Roger and his son, Raiden.

Roger Ray is a Los Angeles based visual artist and children's book author.  He is currently preparing to publish the first in a series of young readers books entitled The Adventures of Raiden-kun, the Young Kami of Thunder and Lightning.  These bilingual stories of adventure are accompanied by full-color illustrations.  (elements of which will be viewable on this site in the summer of 2020)

Upon graduating from UCLA's School of Fine Art, Roger, along with his friend, Jesse Rivard, founded, built and curated Purple Gallery in Los Angeles, which became a hotspot for burgeoning artists and celebrities to show their innovative new works.  The two dedicated most of their time and money to converting a chiropractic office into a designer art scene hub in an otherwise unremarkable business district in Mar Vista, showing a range of talented visual artists from Mike Hand to Timothy Williams to Lucy Liu.  Bands like Idiot Flesh, Ether, and Run, Run, Run graced the performance stage in-between gallery exhibitions.

He then brought his talents and vision to San Diego, CA, where he built Limbo Fine Art from the ground up for the same purpose. Featured in San Diego's hip weekly, City Beat, Limbo made the neighborhood of Hillcrest the destination for talented aspiring artists in San Diego for several years.

Roger is currently preparing a new space for studio work and private viewing. Roger is continuing to work on Slice of Life series of paintings.  This series is comprised of identically sized panels(11"x 48") that are thematically independent of each other.  And, since there is no set order to their display, various combinations and groupings of the panels can yield endless visual and psychological juxtapositions.  The series will be joined by multimedia elements(i.e. sound, light, etc) that fit the size parameters of the painted panels.  The Slice of Life series is constantly changing as new works are added and older works are sold.
